What Kombat products will help in the fight against bed bugs

Instructions for use of "Combat", one of the effective aerosols for killing bedbugs.

The workday is over, the children are put to bed, the lights are turned off, and now you are diving under a warm blanket. Sleep sets in. But... wait a minute... Why do you suffer from severe itching late at night? you look at your skin, make sure of the characteristic signs of insects invading your life (and read about the correct identification of bites in our other article) and summarize: there are bedbugs...

Parasites have now received an incredibly wide publicity that those infected with leprosy did not have in the Old Testament. Fighting them is extremely difficult, but diligence + desire + reliable chemical = the key to success. Did any of your friends recommend the Kombat bedbug remedy to you? Either way, we'd like to give it some attention!

Types of Combat products used against bedbugs

Combat products in various forms contain one or two active components that specifically destroy insects: imiprotrin, cyphenothrin or hydramethylnon. When insects are exposed to them, instant paralysis of the nervous system occurs - the parasites die, but before that they lose their ability to navigate in space and search for food. Such products are more effective due to the fact that not only infected insects are destroyed, but also other individuals with which they come into contact, as well as larvae. It's all about a chain reaction: parasites carry particles of the drug on their paws.

It should be noted right away that the official website of the Combat brand from Henkel does not indicate that the products presented specifically fight bed bugs. The manufacturer classifies the products as follows:

  • from crawling insects (sprays);
  • from cockroaches (gel, traps);
  • from flying insects (sprays and mosquito repellents).

Imiprothrin has a rapid knockdown effect on parasites. Cyphenothrin ensures their high mortality and has a residual effect, “finishing off” bedbugs (while the substance is low toxic for domestic animals).

Cockroach gel - how it works against bedbugs

The gel is used as a barrier agent in cases where it is not known where the source of bedbugs is located, or when treatment with aerosols is dangerous to the health of household members. Parasites that are soiled with the product manage to carry it to the nest and spread it among other individuals. Bedbugs do not die en masse immediately, but within two or three weeks. However, it will not be possible to completely get rid of them with gel alone. However, this remedy is good because it:

  • has a minimal risk of toxin poisoning when used correctly;
  • does not cause allergic reactions, as it does not come into contact with the skin or the respiratory tract;
  • has no specific odors or toxic fumes (after applying them there is no need to leave the room or ventilate it);
  • safe for children and pets (provided that it is applied in places inaccessible to them).

A convenient syringe containing Combat gel allows you to quickly apply the product to any surface.

Application method

The gel is applied in small dots or lines in places where parasites may accumulate (behind furniture, under baseboards, on the back of beds, in closets, etc.) and along the perimeter of the room and bedroom furniture (including around the legs). For ease of application, the product is placed in a syringe. When processing, gloves and a gauze bandage are sufficient; additional protective measures are not required.

For preventive purposes, you can treat the entire apartment around the perimeter so that bedbugs do not have a chance to settle in it.

Gel Combat is viscous and sticky, so it can be used to treat both vertical and horizontal surfaces with equal convenience.

Advantages of the drug

The gels are easy to use, and their composition begins to actively influence parasites immediately after application. Among the main advantages of the product is a decent duration of action. The insecticides present in the composition are active for nine months after application . Also, Combat gel is indispensable if prevention of bedbugs is required. This is especially true when the risk of infection is quite high, in particular if these insects are infested with neighbors.

Sprays against crawling and flying insects

The range of Kombat sprays is quite wide. Each product has a different composition (type of insecticide), so you can choose a poisonous drug for a specific case.

Convenient sprayer Combat spray helps to cover all cracks and small holes during processing

There are three types of Combat sprays that can cope with bedbugs:

  • Superspray;
  • Superspray+;
  • Multispray.

Composition and action:

  • Combat Superspray contains the insecticides cyphenothrin and imiprotrin in concentrations capable of quickly killing bedbugs.
  • Superspray+ is an improved version of the spray that has a higher concentration of active ingredients. In addition, with the help of this drug you can get rid of many other parasites. In addition to crawling insects, the product destroys microbes and is suitable for treating rooms where there are stains of mold and fungi on the walls.
  • Combat Multispray is based on other insecticides - tetramethrin and permethrin. They enhance the effect of each other, which is why the effectiveness of the product doubles. This type of spray affects not only bedbugs, but also other insects: flies, cockroaches. However, it is less effective in the fight against parasites.

Combat Multispray is not effective in getting rid of bed bugs

Important to remember. Bed bugs often develop an addiction to products containing small concentrations of chemicals that are dangerous to them. Adapted parasites are the most difficult to combat.

The most effective “weapon” against bedbugs from the Combat line is Superspray+, which is characterized by the highest concentration of active components . The product helps to quickly get rid of parasites.

Sprays take effect immediately after spraying - already in the first hour the bedbugs begin to die. The product is especially active in the next seven days and continues to have an effect on bedbugs for 20 days. By the end of this period, the concentration of the substance becomes less and less. Daylight and sun rays do not affect its effectiveness.

How to use sprays

To treat a room against bedbugs, simply spray the substance. Using sprays with a thin spray tube, hard-to-reach places can be easily treated: the substance gets into all the cracks and holes. Superspray+ has such a flexible nozzle, thanks to which you can also change the direction of spraying the product during processing. By lowering it down, you can purposefully destroy the insects you see. By pointing the nozzle up or to the side, you can easily treat hard-to-reach areas and ensure penetration of the compound into narrow crevices. In this case, you will kill the parasites that are hiding without damaging the wallpaper and furniture.

To combat bed bugs, use Superspray or Superspray+

The cylinders have a volume of 400–500 ml (as a rule, this is enough to fully treat a house or apartment).

Before using sprays from the Combat line, you should carefully prepare your house or apartment for the procedure:

  1. It is necessary to remove the remnants of insecticidal preparations for bedbugs (if you first used other means).
  2. It is necessary to completely prevent insects from accessing places where they can hide (remove all carpets from the walls, paintings and light book and flower shelves, remove woven items for covering the floor).
  3. You need to check where there may be large concentrations of bedbugs with laid eggs, without missing any corners, cracks and holes.
  4. It is recommended to carefully inspect the room again.

If the procedure for getting rid of bedbugs is carried out in frosty weather, then you should take carpets, shelves, paintings and other objects to the balcony, leaving them there for at least 4-5 hours.

Advantages of the drug

Combat sprays are chosen in cases where it is necessary to quickly destroy parasites in the house, targeting them. It is important that these products belong to the category of drugs “without an unpleasant odor”. Fruit and floral fragrances are added to their composition.

Sprays kill both the bedbugs themselves and their larvae and eggs.

Superspray+ is recommended by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation for use in children's educational institutions (schools, kindergartens), as well as in medical institutions, shops, food warehouses, etc.

Why cockroach traps won't work

Another form of release of Combat products is traps in the form of small boxes. Here we are talking about a device designed strictly for getting rid of cockroaches, but which, according to consumer reviews, can also help in the fight against bedbugs. However, it is unlikely that traps will be able to rid your home of blood-sucking parasites. The manufacturer does not classify such devices as means to combat bedbugs for one simple reason: bedbugs feed on human blood and therefore do not respond to food baits that are interesting to cockroaches.

Cockroach traps

Traps are the most popular . There is nothing new in their design and operating principle. The alluring and very appetizing aroma for cockroaches attracts attention. Insects that are picky eaters try the bait . The poison enters the body and poisons the parasite.

Traps are suitable for prevention and are effective against small numbers of insects . This is their minus. And the plus is that they absolutely do not interfere with the residents’ normal lifestyle and are completely safe for the human body. The low toxicity of the product is safe for pets, even if they decide to try the insecticide.

IMPORTANT : Cockroaches are literally omnivores. Therefore, poisoning them will not be difficult. They have even been known to eat dead skin cells while a person sleeps.

The cockroach repellent works on the principle of a chain reaction. Cockroaches poison themselves and manage to poison their relatives . The traps look neat, and the colors of the containers are painted in shades of the laminate.

How to choose an effective remedy

If your goal is to completely get rid of mass accumulations of bedbugs, then use Combat Superspray+. Manufacturers recommend re-treating them 10–12 days after the first disinfestation. Superspray+ spray is also good because it destroys the remnants of fungi and mold that bedbugs carry and spread. Combat Multispray is also capable of killing other domestic parasites (cockroaches, ants), but it contains a lower concentration of toxic components: bedbugs are more likely to develop a habit of them.

Kombat gels are the right preventative measure. If your neighbors have bedbugs, it is important that they do not spread to you. These products will help limit pest access and prevent them from entering your home.

Reviews

Among users of insecticidal and acaricidal products, positive reviews about Combat against bedbugs prevail:

Combat Super Spray was used for bedbugs in my grandmother's old house. For reliability, the processing was carried out twice. We got rid of it without any problems. On top of that, there were no traces of moths or cockroaches left.Anastasia

The bedbugs appeared recently. At first there were isolated bites. Then they found one of the parasites. We suspect it's from the neighbors - they recently bought a vintage sofa. We agreed and processed two apartments together. I had to do this repeatedly. It helped after the third treatment. Sergey

There have never been bedbugs, so we were very surprised when we saw a parasite on the chair. Identified on the Internet. We read the reviews and bought Kombat. Everything was done according to the instructions for use. It helped after the first treatment. They probably caught the moment successfully. Larisa

If Combat does not help, you will have to look for another remedy or call exterminators. Just be sure to warn them about the attempts made and the means used. Perhaps the population of bedbugs that has settled in the house has developed resistance to the active compounds of household aerosols.

Toxicity of insecticides to humans and animals

Combat products have a third hazard category: moderately toxic (towards people and pets). It is important to know that drugs in this group are practically safe for all mammals, but extremely dangerous for fish and bees, reptiles (frogs, lizards, etc.) .

If the substance gets into the respiratory tract, you should immediately rinse your mouth with plenty of water; if the product gets on your skin, wash it with soap and water. To minimize the likelihood of such consequences, follow protective measures when spraying: treat premises in a special suit, respirator and gloves. It is best for family members to stay in a safer place for the first two days after the procedure.

Protect yourself as much as possible during the procedure: make sure you have special clothing and a respirator

If there is an aquarium installed in the house, then when treating the room with sprays, be sure to take it out or at least cover it with a thick cloth so that the substance does not get into the water. Kombat, like other chemicals, should be kept away from children. It is also necessary to ensure that dogs and cats do not lick insecticide residue from treated surfaces.

Technology of use

Before you start processing the premises, they need to be prepared .

  1. To do this, the furniture needs to be moved away from the walls and placed in the middle of the room, allowing access to the baseboards.
  2. Disassemble all sofas and beds down to their frames, removing bedding and mattresses.
  3. Remove all items from wardrobes.
  4. ADVICE! Contaminated items should be washed using very hot water. They can also be frozen or steamed.

  5. Clear the walls of all accessories such as paintings, photographs, carpets.
  6. Remove all inhabitants from the house, turn off the aquarium compressor and close it with a lid.
  7. Protect yourself with a respirator or mask, wear goggles.

This ends the preparatory stage and begins treatment with insecticides.

  1. The aerosol bottle is shaken vigorously and sprayed into the bedbug habitat.
  2. Processing is carried out from a distance of 2–3 dm.
  3. Be sure to spray cracks in baseboards, sleeping places, armchairs, back walls of furniture, carpets, mattresses, paintings and any hidden areas.
  4. After finishing the procedure, you need to leave the apartment for 15–25 minutes, leaving the insecticides to work.

Carry out the final stage of the operation.

  1. First of all, thoroughly ventilate all treated rooms.
  2. Then collect the corpses of insects and larvae with a vacuum cleaner and carry out final cleaning.
  3. To do this, make a soap solution, add soda to it and wipe all surfaces contaminated with the drug.

about 8-10 days, you need to carry out a second operation to remove bed bugs from the house.

IMPORTANT! To guarantee the extermination of insects, treatment is carried out immediately in all rooms of the house.

Kombat aerosols cope with their task quite well, exterminating bedbugs. However, you should not expect it to miraculously get rid of all bloodsuckers from the very first use.

We also invite you to familiarize yourself with other remedies for bedbugs: Tetrix, Clean House, Get, Tsifoks, Forsythe, Fufanon, Cucaracha, Karbofos, Raid, Mashenka, Raptor, Executioner
