"Men in Black" is a popular American film that consists of four parts. This is a fascinating story about the adventures of super agents performing various tasks. The film contains many interesting characters of alien origin - worms, Arkillians and other creatures.
Based on this film, an animated series for adults was subsequently filmed. There are also mini-series of Marvel comics of the same name. The latter were created by Lowell Cunningham. They were the literary source and were used when writing the script.
Illegal migration of people and aliens
So, some enterprising guy was detained by the border service for illegally transporting migrants. Two men in black suits appear here, declaring that they represent a certain secret department of the FBI. They take one of the migrants. Suddenly it turns out that this is not a migrant or even a person, but a representative of some alien race.
The negotiations went poorly, the alien had to be destroyed, and the police had to erase his memory. But the worst part is that one of the men in black is too old to do his job. Therefore, Agent Kay had to erase his memory and urgently start looking for a new partner.

Hawk Moths
Hawkmoth caterpillar The hawkmoth caterpillar is found in central Russia, Siberia, and the Far East.
It feeds on the foliage of birch, poplar, and willow. A green caterpillar with a horn on its tail perfectly camouflages itself as a rolled up tree leaf. Diagonal thin stripes on the body of the larva resemble the veins of leaves. This coloring helps the hawk moth hide from its enemies. Hawkmoths (Sphingidae) are a family of large or medium-sized butterflies. The body is powerful, often cone-shaped; wings are narrow, elongated, with a span from 30 to 175 mm.
For some unknown reason, with my aunt’s suggestion, I called hawkmoths bobs for most of my life. It’s unclear what kind of beans these are, I’ve never heard this word from anyone’s lips except my aunt, and Yandex finds only Dostoevsky’s story of the same name for such a request.
The caterpillars are large, beautiful, usually brightly colored with contrasting stripes and false eyes. They have a characteristic horn on the tail.
The pupae of most hawk moths also have a horn.
Next, we will talk about the history of pupation of two caterpillars found simultaneously on our site and identified as hawkmoth larvae: wine and lime. Actually, identifying them was not particularly difficult, since it is known that hawkmoth caterpillars are very picky and selective of their food plants, therefore, if a caterpillar is found on grapes, then it can be said with a high probability that it should turn out to be a wine hawkmoth.
So, the first story is happy...
The caterpillar was found eating grape leaves. She was fat, elastic and green, with a horn and four false eyes in the front.
This caterpillar was caught on a linden tree, and when caught it was approximately the same green color as our previous hero. However, by the time of the photo shoot, she had noticeably changed her color to green-yellow. If I had read about this caterpillar earlier, I would have realized that it was already about to pupate - in the linden hawkmoth this is preceded by a change in color.
If I had immediately planted the caterpillar in the leaves and not touched it again, then perhaps I would now still have a pupa of the linden hawk moth. But I did not allow the poor creature to calmly carry out its biological program. While I was replanting, while I was taking photographs...
Chasing a bandit and the arrival of a beetle
Next, an ordinary New York cop chases a not-so-ordinary criminal. People can't run and jump like that. But Detective Edwardson still catches up with the fugitive. But he falls from the roof, finally saying something about the end of the world. Detective Edwards is being interrogated, no one believes about the second pair of eyelids. Then Agent Kay comes and takes him away.
Around the same time, an unidentified object falls on the farm. The farmer goes out to see what happened and loses his life, and the alien puts on his shell. And you can’t dig in, the farmer himself said - only over my corpse. And yes, he intimidated his wife so much that she did not accept the change either in behavior or in appearance.

Moth
Moth butterfly caterpillar
This caterpillar is called a land surveyor due to its unusual mode of movement. Her slender body is pulled upward in a loop, pulling the back part forward, then the front part is pulled along the surface. The brown color allows it to camouflage itself with the color of the bark. The moth eats tree needles, currant foliage, and hazel.
Unusual exam and working conditions
Agent Kay states that he works for an alien control agency. Now Edwardson no longer believes, who can even believe in such a thing? Until he sees a living alien with his own eyes. After this, he receives an invitation to a certain competition and successfully passes it. Actually, applicants were tested for non-standard thinking, which is required to work in the agency.
After this, Kay tells everything openly. And about the treaty with aliens, and about the fact that the Earth has been declared a territory open to migration, and about aliens who secretly live on Earth. The work is dangerous and interesting, but there is a condition: the identity of Detective Edwardson will be completely erased, no contact with society ever. In my opinion, the price is not that high.

What I liked most was that the LCH agency does not depend on the government, and its employees do not report to anyone. They operate with money from a number of patented inventions, which, of course, were shared by the alien guests.
Yes, according to Agent Kay, the human mind is so primitive that in some systems it is considered a contagious disease. Now it’s clear why in the film “Virus” it is humanity that is considered a virus. In general, it seems to me that this film is also far from fiction. There may not be many aliens on Earth and they are certainly not that diverse, but there is something there.
But let's get back to the movies. Meanwhile, the VHFs learn that one of the most dangerous types of aliens, a beetle, has entered the planet. To find traces of him, Kay and Jay go to the morgue, where they meet pathologist Laurel Weaver (Linda Fiorentino "Dogma" ) and an orange cat with an unusual medallion around his neck.

How did these insects get into your home?
How do cockroaches get into the house? If there are black cockroaches crawling behind your kitchen cabinets, this is not necessarily a sign of uncleanliness. Typically, cockroaches arrive in food packages or are found in travel luggage. They find you have ideal living conditions: central heating provides a comfortable temperature of 25 to 30 ° C, and carelessly packaged products make the kitchen a paradise for black gourmets.
As soon as cockroaches appear in your home, an immediate response on your part is important: unhygienic insects quickly multiply and penetrate into neighboring rooms and apartments through air duct systems and cable channels.
Happy ending for everyone
There is a panic in the main office of the VHF, the aliens begin to leave the planet. There is also an Arkillian warship in full combat readiness in orbit, while they demand to give up some galaxy. Nobody knows what this means. And yes, a gas explosion seems to be a universal camouflage for both HF and wizards .
In general, there is only an hour left to get the beetle, otherwise the Arkillians will destroy the Earth so as not to give up their galaxy, or rather the source of inexhaustible energy located in it. Our heroes, of course, saved the galaxy and dealt with the beetle. That same Laurel helped with this.
At the end of the operation, Agent Kay reported that he had already worked enough for the benefit of humanity and was retiring. He prepared Jay for his place. But we will meet him again in the second part . Yes, Jay took Laurel as his partner. Well, the girl is desperate, and she knows everything. This is the end.

Peacock eye
Hawk Moth Caterpillar
The caterpillar of a beautiful nocturnal butterfly is known for its large size - some specimens exceed 10 cm in length. The large green caterpillar of the Peacock's eye lives in the western part of Russia, the Caucasus, and Crimea. The main food is fruit trees:
- Apple tree;
- pear;
- Walnut;
- plum;
- cherry.
This is definitely worth thinking about...
What can I add here? The movie, which is now over 20 years old, still looks great today. If you wish, you can even find something to think about in it. For example, size doesn't matter. We are accustomed to measuring everything by our earthly standards, but they are incorrect in relation to other things and beings.
The episode with the beetle, when Jay crushed earthly cockroaches, and this resonated in the soul of the alien, gave rise to an interesting idea. There is such a variety of flora and fauna on Earth, but what if these are smaller copies of creatures living in different parts of the Universe or galaxy?
And yes, it’s not in vain that they say - if you want to hide something, put it in the most visible place. Real alien ships sat safely in plain sight for many years. What if this is some kind of hint? What is shown in the movies and written in the tabloids is not always the delirium of fevered minds...
Black carpenter ants
In addition to black house ants, there are also black carpenter ants. As their name suggests, they love to chew wood. If they settle next to wooden buildings, they can cause great damage to them.
Features of the view
These insects love to settle in dry trees and old stumps. The color of ants is most often black, sometimes the chest has a red tint. Males reach one centimeter in length, while females are slightly larger - about one and a half centimeters. Females have wings, which they discard after mating. The main part of the colony are worker ants, which tirelessly expand the nest, gnawing new passages in the tree.
Once a year in the summer, ants begin to mate. Males grow wings, after which they mate with females in the air. The males then die, and the females look for a suitable place to lay eggs. At first, the female takes care of the cubs herself, forming them into builder ants. Then the grown workers begin to build a nest, and the queen begins a new cycle of laying eggs, this time without the participation of the male.
Harm and benefits of ants
In nature, the carpenter ant brings great benefits, clearing forests of small parasites, fungi, and loosening the soil, but it becomes a real disaster for humans if it settles in a wooden house. Numerous passages appear in the walls, the wood turns into dust, losing its strength. And if you allow ants to continue to live within the walls of your house, then you risk being left without it at all.
Ways to fight
Folk remedies and chemicals will help get rid of woodworm infestations.
- A concentrated emulsion for killing insects will help to effectively exterminate an ant colony. The most effective drug in this category is Deta. The drug is diluted in water according to the instructions, and the walls, furniture, and floor are sprayed. Broad spectrum insecticide causes paralysis and death. Mass mortality is observed after 2 weeks.
- Some foods are known to be harmful to these insects. These are starch and coffee grounds. Place these products where ants travel. Woodworms eat food that is harmful to them themselves and drag it into the nest. They feed other relatives, larvae, and the queen. Death occurs a few days after the poison enters the stomach. The ants, suspecting nothing, continue to carry the poison into the nest.
- You can poison a carpenter ant with boric acid by combining it with food products - sugar, honey, cookies with milk, jam, boiled yolk. Place baits in places where insects move.
- You can expel them from the premises and prevent re-infection with garlic, tansy, mint, wormwood, as well as ammonia, vinegar, and birch tar.
Prevention
To prevent woodworms from appearing in your home, there are some rules you should follow. Branches that lean too close to the house need to be cut off. Do not leave trash heaps, fallen leaves and branches in the areas. Keep the house clean: do not leave dirty dishes, remove leftover food and cover the trash can. If you find a pile of ants near your house, then scatter substances with a pungent odor near it - turmeric, cinnamon or pepper.
Clothes moth
Clothes moth larvae
Clothes moth larvae cause great damage to people's personal belongings. The white caterpillar with a brown head feeds on wool, fur products, and cotton fabric. The female moth lays eggs in closets, pantries, and warehouses where outerwear made from natural materials is stored.
Clothes moth caterpillars are recognized as the smallest - the length of their translucent body varies from 1 to 12 mm. The more food they consume, the longer and thicker they become. The pest lives everywhere in Eurasia, North America, Australia, and some African countries.
