The pesticide Dakfosal produced by JSC Shchelkovo Agrokhim (Russian Federation) is used as a powerful insecticide, acaricide and rodenticide (rodent repellent) as the “last line of defense” against pests of grain reserves and arthropods parasitizing in food storage facilities; outdoors – against unwanted digging quadrupeds. The effectiveness of the drug is unsurpassed: rats that consistently survive after a 3-fold lethal dose of thiuram, a 4-hour exposure to dakfosal kills every single one of them. However, this pesticide is extremely toxic to any animals; its hazard class for humans is 1st (deadly dangerous substance). Dakfosal is approved for use on private farms and goes on wide sale, but only because there is no full-fledged replacement for it - this product is the least dangerous of the few that make it possible to carry out complete disinfestation of the premises, including cracks and nooks that are inaccessible for direct treatment, from all generations (phases of development) of pests, incl. from eggs and resting larval stages. Therefore, Dakfosal must be used exactly according to the rules for handling it and strictly observing all the necessary precautions (see below).
Note: pesticides for similar purposes based on the same active substance (AI) are produced in the near and far abroad. However, the degree of danger and toxicological indicators of the drug are often incompletely and/or unclearly indicated on the packages and in the instructions for them. Dakfosal analogues must be handled with the same care as the original.
Composition and active ingredient of the insecticide
The drug is available in the form of tablets packaged in bottles. Standard packages are 0.3 kg and 1 kg. Insecticide composition: aluminum phosphide, phosphine (affect the breathing of insect pests or rodents, causing paralysis of the nervous system). The peculiarity of the action of the product is gas activity.
Activation of Dakfosal tablets occurs under the influence of moisture in the air. It is the released phosphine gas that provokes paralysis of the spiral muscles of the pests and interrupts active breathing. For high effectiveness of the drug, an adequate amount of oxygen is required, otherwise low mortality of insects is observed.
Description of the drug
Dakfosal Antikrot is a very dangerous, but at the same time effective drug. Its main active ingredient is aluminum phosphide, the content of which is 570 g/kg. The insecticide is produced in the form of so-called “gas” tablets, each of which is capable of releasing up to 1 g of toxic fumes.
Tablets are always sold in a hermetically sealed flask, which must be opened immediately before use.
Dakfosal Antikrot.
As soon as the drug comes into contact with air, an irreversible reaction occurs, during which a dangerous gas is released.
Toxic vapors penetrate even the most inaccessible corners of tunnels and burrows. After rodents, insects or mammals inhale these vapors, their respiratory system is disrupted, which ultimately leads to a lack of oxygen, suffocation and death.
In what cases is it used?
The product is actively used for disinfestation of empty storage facilities, warehouses, elevators, in which grain is stored in bags or in bulk under films. The drug has a wide range of effects on pests (insecticide, rodenticide, acaricide). "Dakfosal" is used to treat granaries in order to destroy granary weevils, grain borers, tobacco beetles, mill moths, grain moths, flour beetles, mites and other pests.
In open spaces, the product is used to protect areas from moles and other diggers. Moreover, as a rodenticide, the substance is produced in the form of stickers. To destroy the animals, it is enough to stick “Dakfosal-anti-mole” sticks into each mole-hole entrance during the day.
Mechanism of action
The “functioning” of the drug can be divided into two stages. The active ingredient – aluminum phosphide – does not have pesticide properties. However, when it reacts with moisture in the air, it forms toxic phosphine gas. To cause severe poisoning, it is enough to inhale air for 10-15 minutes in which the concentration of the toxic substance is 1 mg / cubic meter. meter.

It should be noted that the gas has an unpleasant odor, and no symptoms of poisoning are observed in the first few minutes. The toxic effect of phosphine lasts 1-24 hours. If the room is ventilated for a long time, the gas breaks down into harmless substances.
Instructions for use of Dakfosal
Given the toxicity of the drug, the manufacturer's recommendations for use should be strictly followed.

The best ultrasonic mole repellers
4 Hawk MK.01
If uninvited “guests” have appeared at your dacha, but the population of underground pests is relatively small, we recommend choosing the ultrasonic repeller “Hawk MK.01”. Its key advantage is a special mechanism of action that combines low-frequency sound and seismic waves. The device is autonomous and runs on D-size batteries (4 pcs.), which are enough for approximately 4 months of continuous use.
In the comments they write that you can turn on the signal at intervals of 30 seconds. We do not recommend using the device at sub-zero temperatures. It's better to get it out as soon as the ground starts to freeze. Pros: combined housing made of plastic and aluminum, easiest installation and no need for additional maintenance. Disadvantages: small area of action, effective only with a small number of moles.
3 Ecosniper LS-997M
A durable aluminum body, powerful sound pulses of variable frequency and a large range of action are the main characteristics of the Ecosniper LS-997M ultrasonic repeller. It runs on D batteries (4 pcs.), but they are not included. Every 15 seconds, the device emits sound waves that scare off moles, mole crickets and gophers. The protection area reaches 1,500 m2, provided that there are no obstacles nearby (concrete paths, foundations, etc.).
One of the advantages of the repeller is that it works in several directions. The device changes the vibration frequency, interval and duration of exposure, therefore it is effective over many years of use. Pros: can be used at sub-zero temperatures, mechanical amplification of vibrations, safety for earthworms and insects. Cons: high cost, as well as the need for frequent battery replacement.
2 Sititek Thunder-Profi Led+
The main advantage of the Sititek “Grom-Profi Led+” ultrasonic repeller is its autonomy. It runs entirely on solar power, so you don't have to constantly replace alkaline batteries. The device with a waterproof housing emits sound signals that repel moles and shrews. Their frequency constantly changes in a random order, preventing pests from getting used to the operation of the device. Additionally, the design is equipped with a built-in LED lamp for user convenience.
The ultrasonic repeller covers an area of 700 m2 and does not lose effectiveness even in remote areas of your dacha. The packaging box and instructions for the device are completely Russified, so installation and configuration of the device will take a minimum of time. Pros: moles do not adapt to sound, quickly leave their places, the repeller is equipped with rubber inserts to protect against moisture and dust, so it can be used in any weather. The downside is the high cost.
1 Topnado OZV.01M
“Tornado OZV.01M” is the best ultrasonic repeller of moles, gophers, shrews and voles. It works around the clock, has a dual power supply: from AAA batteries (4 pcs.) and a built-in solar battery. It operates on an area of up to 1,000 m2, while the user independently adjusts the duration of operation and the interval of its activation. Automatic operating mode available.
Reviews say that the repeller sinks into the ground and fits harmoniously into the landscape design of any area. You don’t need to take it out to change the settings: the device works without intervention for about 1 year, regardless of the air temperature (recommended range: from 0 to 50°C). Pros: high-quality body, long range, efficiency, and 100% safety for humans and pets.
Security measures
When treating premises, first of all, the amount of the required substance is calculated and a plan for the location of the tablets is drawn up.
Basic safety requirements:
- for the period of work with Dakfosal, a full set of personal protective equipment is worn (overalls, boots, gloves, a special respirator);
- when the first symptoms of suffocation appear, work stops; it is necessary to leave the premises;
- After processing the warehouse or elevator, you need to take a shower, and the PPE is sent for neutralization. The treated room is tightly closed, and information about the event is posted on the door.
Contact of tablets or granules with the naked body or exposed skin is strictly prohibited. You should also not smell the product. It must be remembered that at high air temperatures (from 30 ° C), the risk of a sudden release of phosphine increases, which can cause severe burns and poisoning.

The best tablets for moles
3 STOP-Mole
The best product, “STOP-Mole,” comes in the form of small tablets, the main active ingredients of which are pesticides with fumigation properties. The drug must be placed in the animal's burrow and then covered with a layer of earth. On average, 2-3 tablets are required for one mole’s home. The manufacturer recommends throwing them in the middle of the day (from 12:00 to 16:00 hours).
The reviews write that with subsequent treatments the number of tablets can be reduced by 1.5-2 times. Toxic gas fills the burrows, forcing rodents to leave their summer cottage. The product must not be opened in a residential area. Pros: long period of protective action, affordable price, excellent reviews. Disadvantages: you cannot throw in the tablets after rain; it is dangerous for humans if they inhale the gas released.
2 Detia
Detia mole repellent balls are chosen for their 100% safety for soil and humans. The effectiveness of their action is based on the effects of essential oils, the main one of which is lavender. These odors are pleasant to humans, but they are very repellent to moles. Oils saturate the soil for a long time, therefore they reliably protect your dacha from the reappearance of underground pests.
Reviews note that the product is sold ready for use. One package contains 100 balls, which must be buried at a short distance from each other (preferably near the minks). Pros: completely natural composition, evaporation of non-toxic toxins, biodegradable product. Disadvantages - it is valid only for one season, so the procedure may need to be repeated in the future.
1 Alphos-Krot+
“Alphos-Mole+” is the best remedy for fighting garden moles. Once in the soil, the tablets emit heavy gas (alphos), which gradually displaces the air and settles to a depth of 4 m. This repels and destroys underground pests, so we recommend placing the product in their burrows and immediately covering them with soil. Tool No. 1 in the fight against moles, hamsters and gophers. In addition, it is used against ants, aphids and mites.
Buyers write that the tablets work quickly and effectively. They are available in packs of 3, 5, 10 and even 30 pieces, so you need to choose based on the number of minks. The tablets come with detailed instructions in Russian. Please note that opening the packaging indoors is prohibited! Pros: ease of use, proven effectiveness, safety for plants. You will see the result within a few hours after use.
Storage rules
Given the high toxicity of the drug, it is strictly prohibited to store tablets in a warehouse or premises simultaneously with food, household or household items. Storage temperature range from -20 °C to +35 °C. The warehouse must be equipped with supply and exhaust ventilation. It is not allowed to place nitrogen fertilizers and Dakfosal in the same room.
To avoid the harmful effects of the drug on the human body or chronic poisoning, it is advisable to use the drug immediately after purchase.

I wanted to drive the moles out of the area, but I am a supporter of humanism and did not plan to kill them. I installed a repeller, but it only helped for one season. This year I tried Dakfosal, I’ll look at it in the spring, but I hope they won’t come back.

What can be replaced?
A popular analogue of the drug is the product “Selfos”, which is also intended for protection against pests of grain storage facilities. Advantages of the drug: average toxicity, destruction of rodents and various types of insect pests, does not accumulate in grain, low consumption. To process 1 ton of grain, you will need three tablets.
The use of special preparations greatly simplifies the protection of grain crops from pests and ensures reliable destruction of rodents and moles. However, the toxicity of the products and the need to comply with safety requirements must be taken into account.
Rules for using the drug
Dakfosal is dangerous not only for small pests and insects, but also for humans. When using this drug, it is strictly prohibited:
- work without using personal protective equipment (respirator, gloves, safety glasses);
- touch the tablets with bare hands;
- use the drug at air temperatures above +30 degrees Celsius;
- determine the suitability of tablets by inhaling their smell.
All of the above actions can lead to dire consequences, so ignoring the rules for working with a toxic drug is unacceptable.
