Mosquitoes
As soon as the warm season begins, nature begins to awaken. Together with plants and animals, the activity of such an important class of invertebrates as insects is intensifying. One of the most unpleasant insects for humans is mosquitoes. These small creatures are active at any time of the day and never miss an extra opportunity to feast on their favorite dish - human blood. For many millennia, these small creatures have spoiled our lives, and only relatively recently have more or less effective means of combating them appeared. Let's look at the best mosquito repellents for different conditions.
General information about control methods
Mosquito repellents
Currently, there are many mosquito repellents on sale, which are quite difficult to understand for those who have a superficial understanding of the issue. Typically, knowledge of existing repellents is limited to the fact that against mosquitoes there are only fumigator plates that are used in small heaters that operate overnight.
However, the choice of remedies against annoying insects is not limited to this. The mosquito repellents available today can be divided into the following types:
- used in sufficiently large rooms or outdoors; these include all kinds of fumigators, repellents or traps
- used individually, intended to protect one person, and, as a rule, applied to the skin (in some cases, to clothing); they are mainly produced in the form of creams, gels, emulsions, sprays, crayons, etc.
- for putting on the body (this can include various bracelets, stickers, headbands, hats, and so on)
Each of the categories under consideration has its own application features, so in order to understand them, you should consider them in detail.

Why do mosquitoes appear in human homes?
Typically, mosquitoes live on balconies, garages, bathrooms, porches or basements. In villages, the favorite habitats of insects are barns, cattle pens and cellars. It is not surprising that even in winter you can notice the appearance of several individuals in the apartment. If there was a water leak in the basement of your house and a puddle remained, insects will safely settle in this place, since the air temperature in the basement allows them to lead a normal lifestyle. Through small cracks and holes, insects enter the apartment, where they cause harm to humans.
A mosquito is a blood-sucking insect that exhibits its vital activity mainly in the evening and at night during the warm season. Any warm and humid place is suitable for the full development and reproduction of the pest.
What types of mosquitoes are there?
There are 3,600 species of mosquitoes in the world. In a temperate climate, only 4 types of insects can live near humans: culex, biters, bells, and caramora.
Rod Culexa
A typical representative of the species is the squeaking mosquito. It is this mosquito that we most often encounter in everyday life. Insects have adapted well to life not only next to humans, but also in basements and cellars.
Peculiarities:
- feed on both human blood and decomposition products;
- are able to reproduce in cold weather in warm, damp basements;
- carry meningitis, malaria, encephalitis;
- the size of the individual does not exceed 1 cm.
If even several individuals appear in the apartment, start fighting immediately.
Rod Kusaki
Mosquitoes live in tropical and subtropical climates. They settle near humans, in lowlands favorable for breeding offspring. Insects can be distinguished by characteristic white stripes on their bodies. Capable of carrying microorganisms dangerous to human health.
Zvontsy family
Also called jerk mosquitoes or chironomids. The bells got their name from the ringing hum emitted by a swarm of insects. The characteristic sound appears due to the ability to flap its wings up to 1000 times per second. The name “derguns” also appeared due to an external feature. Adult mosquitoes continuously twitch their long front legs.
You can recognize the species of chironomidae thanks to its larvae - bloodworms, which are actively used to feed fish.
Externally, chironomids resemble culex mosquitoes and are distinguished by their large body size, densely feathered antennae, and a special manner of sitting. This species is harmless to human health, but a swarm of ringing mosquitoes can cause aesthetic discomfort with its massive invasion.
Karamora clan
We know this genus as centipedes. Mosquitoes have a terrifying appearance due to their long limbs, which are several times larger than their body size. Despite their menacing appearance, insects are not dangerous to humans. They feed exclusively on plant foods. Genus centipedes can get into an apartment by accident.
What harm do mosquitoes cause to humans?
First of all, mosquito bites can cause an allergic reaction to the human skin. Many people experience itching and a reddish swelling at the site of the bite.
However, it is necessary to fight mosquitoes not only because of allergies. Some types of insects can infect humans:
- malaria;
- lymphatic filariasis;
- tularemia;
- fever.
All these diseases cause irreversible liver damage, anemia, vascular blockage, intoxication, increased body temperature, and bleeding.
Also remember that mosquitoes can bite repeatedly. This means that the parasite can suck blood from one person and then from another. As a result, the insect becomes a carrier of a number of other diseases if it first bites a sick person and then a healthy one.
How long can a mosquito live in an apartment after being bitten?
It's no secret that it is the female insects that bite. Mosquitoes are not animals that die soon after being bitten. The bite and life expectancy of the parasite are in no way related. A female mosquito lives 42–115 days, and a male mosquito lives 20–60 days.
As soon as the insect smells a person, it begins to hunt for him in order to bite him. The bite itself is a kind of exchange: the parasite pierces the skin and injects saliva, which prevents the blood from clotting, and the person “gives” the blood. The substance contained in saliva is what causes skin reactions, redness, and itching.
Why do mosquitoes appear in autumn and winter?
If a mosquito enters an environment with an air temperature below 0 degrees, it will go into torpor (hibernation). Insects cannot tolerate cold, so in the off-season they try to fly into a warm room, where they continue their life activities.
Mosquito repellents
OZZ products
The action of this class of substances is based on the strong odor of the main active chemical, which causes discomfort to mosquitoes. The concentration of this substance is so high that it even masks the natural aromas of the human body, thereby making it completely unattractive to mosquitoes.
The main active ingredients of most currently used repellents are the following chemicals:
- diethyltoluamide
- carboxyl
- oxamate
- benzoyl piperidine
There are several manufacturers producing repellents. Let's look at the most popular products currently on sale.
OZZ products
OZZ products
OZZ products The products of this manufacturer are represented by almost all types of repellents: from sprays to lotions.
Typically, sprays are applied evenly to the surface of the skin and can show their effect for about 5-7 hours.
Creams have a slightly shorter “working time” - no more than 3 hours.
Various ointments (for example, OZZ-18) are potent agents and are used only in cases where the number of mosquitoes is particularly high. The ointment also lasts up to 6 hours.
Spray lotions have a complex effect on the skin. They not only repel mosquitoes, but also provide nutrition to its integument. This type of repellent is considered the safest for humans and is recommended for people with particularly sensitive skin.
Products from the manufacturer Kontra
Product from the manufacturer Kontra
Products from the manufacturer Kontra are certified by the Ministry of Health, are highly effective, have virtually no odor and do not leave stains on clothes.
Today on the market such products are presented in the following form:
- Gel "Kontra". It is only a repellent, but also a cosmetic product. Suitable for dry and sensitive skin
- Mosquito cream. A universal product for the protection of adults and children over 12 years of age. Apply to exposed areas of the body. Protection time is 4-5 hours
- Lotion spray. Has a mild effect. Its use is allowed from 12 years of age. Can be used in conjunction with other types of cosmetics. Action time is 4-5 hours
Brand Off
Brand Off
Trademark Off A fairly popular line of products at present. It consists mainly of sprays, the most popular of which are:
- Spray Off "classic". A typical aerosol product designed to be sprayed onto the body, clothing or hair. It has a faint neutral odor for humans. Action time: about 4 hours
- Spray Off Family. A new form of repellent that can be used by both adults and children over 12 years of age. Apply to skin or clothing. The action time is about 3-4 hours. If the clothes treated with the product are left in a sealed plastic bag for 10-12 hours, the repellent effect on the clothes will last for 2.5-3 days. Application to the skin can be done no more than once every 12 hours!
ATAS products
ATAS products
ATAS products are mainly represented by sprays or spray lotions. The latter have a fairly long duration of action, reaching up to 6 hours.
We can safely say that currently the market for spray repellents is even to some extent oversaturated with products, since it is naturally not limited to the listed manufacturers and brands. The buyer can always find something he likes and he will have a great choice.

How I fought mosquitoes. Personal experience and tests on yourself
This summer may have arrived later than expected, but it has already brought with it a host of mosquitoes. And this is such a misfortune that can ruin any long-awaited holiday in nature. And since I was not used to believing advertising, I was not greedy and bought various mosquito repellents. I decided to try it on myself, using my favorite systematic approach: developing a test methodology, conducting tests, summing up the results. So, we shop and go closer to the water, where there are the most mosquitoes.
Video for those who are too lazy to read:
All means of fighting mosquitoes can be divided into two types: means that are applied to the body and means that repel the smell from the outside. For example, there are coils that smoke, and there are sprays that are applied to clothing and exposed areas of the body.
What repels mosquitoes?
Having collected all the bottles and boxes, I began to study the composition. The main element of all sprays that repels mosquitoes is DEET or Diethyltoluamide. This chemical was developed by the US Army in 1946 to protect personnel in areas with large insect populations. Apparently even then they began to gather in tropical countries with a large number of insects. Since 1957, repellents containing DEET have been available to civilians. In addition, this chemistry is effective against all blood-sucking insects, including midges, horseflies, ticks and others.
The second element that repels mosquitoes is Allethrin. I won’t go deep into chemistry, I’ll just tell you that in mosquitoes this drug causes hyperactivity, impaired coordination of movements, convulsions, prostration, paralysis and ultimately the death of the insect. In general, it works well.
What is the difference in action?
Deta has to be applied to the skin, and this poison can enter the body through the skin, as well as by accident: they licked their lips where the spray came into contact, rubbed their eyes with hands that had the poison on them, etc. Therefore, even on the packaging they write that these products should not be used by pregnant women and small children. In addition, many products cannot be used more than 2-3 times a day, and the duration of action can be several hours. This means that the rest of the time you are left without protection from mosquitoes or poisoned voluntarily, in violation of the instructions.
Spirals and plates act differently: during the process of smoldering of the spiral or evaporation of allethrin from the plate, its concentration in the air increases and the mosquitoes simply become disoriented and die. Moreover, the concentration in the air is so low that it does not harm pregnant women or children. Actually, household fumigators that are plugged into sockets operate on the same principle. By the way, it is necessary to leave the room ventilated when using the fumigator!
Let's start the test
I decided to test it on myself. Every day I went out to work and sprayed/smeared myself with another product. I timed the work until the mosquitoes started biting. It must be said that during active work, when you start to sweat, the duration of action of the products is seriously reduced. But since retirement is far away, you won’t be able to just sit and watch the sunset any time soon - after all, there are a lot of interesting things to do and for this you need to move forward. I will provide a table below with the operating time of each drug and the percentage of the chemical DEET.
I would like to separately note: I do not claim to be the truth, and I obtained these results solely for myself, testing them in my own conditions, on my own skin and with incorruptible mosquitoes. All data can be used by anyone and in any way. I have no complaints against the manufacturers, since all the funds were used anyway.

What to choose: ointment or spray?
It became interesting what is better to choose: ointment or spray. Something told me that the ointment applied to the skin would protect much longer, since the ointment contained elements that would maintain the Det concentration longer. On the other hand, you cannot apply ointment to clothes, which means that most of the body will remain without protection from mosquitoes. In general, everyone chooses for themselves. But I will draw attention to one more experience. It turned out that not all sprays are “equally useful,” that is, not all sprays are so harmless. I specially took a white T-shirt and applied all the ointments and sprays on it so that you could see what traces remained. One spray stood out - Reftamid. The spray mark did not disappear even after a day. So be careful when applying sprays to things dear to your heart!
What's the alternative?
Until recently, only spirals were an alternative to all sprays and ointments. The principle of operation is incredibly simple: set it on fire, extinguish the flame and place it near you. The spiral smolders, Allethrin is released with smoke and discourages mosquitoes from living at someone else's expense. There are two disadvantages: first, if the wind blows in the other direction, then all the protective smoke will go away. That is, the entire camp has to be bombarded in a circle with smoking coils. The second disadvantage is the possibility of fire and limited duration of action. As a rule, after spreading the spirals around the camp, no one walks around and checks whether they are smoking or not. And after 3-4 hours the mosquitoes begin to attack again.
Just recently I saw a fumigator for tourists - Thermacell. The principle of operation is similar to that of household home fumigators. A plate soaked in Allethrin is placed on a heated platform and creates a protective cloud within a radius of 3-4 meters using vapors.
But since there is no electricity in nature, the record must be heated somehow differently. So the manufacturer bothered with such a device, in which the plate is heated by the combustion of gas from a can. The can lasts for 12 hours of burning, but the concentration of aroma from the plate begins to fall after 4 hours and the tablet needs to be changed. The remaining gas can be monitored through the process port.
Well, this fumigator is available in two versions: a wearable “keychain” and a camping lamp. The lamp is LED and runs on 4 AA batteries. It has two glow modes: low and full. It’s good to put this on a camp table, turn it on and change the tablets periodically.
In general, the “keychain” is good for individual use – for fishing, for example. But you can hang a lamp in a tent (turn off the fumigator, because combustion products can cause poisoning) or put it on a table and scare away mosquitoes from the general tent.
Somehow the idea arose to save money by purchasing original consumables-tablets. I took tablets for a home fumigator - they are almost half the size of those installed in Thermasel, and placed them on a heated plate. It works, but is much less effective. Apparently, the secret lies in the different concentrations of Allethrin in these plates.
conclusions
Most of the various sprays are available on store shelves - and it’s understandable: spray it on a person and let him walk. I once had the opportunity to walk through the forests around Lake Pleshcheyevo, in Pereslavl-Zalessky. The city is famous for its mosquitoes and then I realized what the protection period was. After a couple of hours, even the most persistent repellent lost ground: the mosquitoes flew closer and closer, the most desperate ones even landed, but immediately flew away. In general, protection from mosquitoes is needed!
Regarding the experience gained and the results of the experiment. Under ideal conditions, in calm weather and sitting on your butt straight, perhaps the time indicated by the manufacturer will be close to the real one, but in life everything is a little different. Some repellents did not last even a quarter of the time stated. The advantages are obvious: I sprayed and forgot about the bloodsuckers for a while, regardless of the wind. Disadvantages: you apply the poison to exposed skin; it is contraindicated for pregnant women and children. And you can renew the poison on the skin only a few times a day. In addition, you have to wash it off later.
But as for the spirals and fumigator, everything is more interesting here: there is no poison, everyone can use it, mosquitoes really fly away. But there are also disadvantages: the spiral smolders and can start a fire, and it burns for a little more than 4 hours without wind. If the wind blows, it will burn faster. In addition, the wind blows away the smoke screen, and mosquitoes fly in from the other side. The fumigator wins in this regard: you can hang it on your belt or forearm and carry it with you when going mushroom picking or night fishing. But we must not forget to periodically change the tablets.
I came to the following conclusion for myself: if you have the opportunity to swim before getting into a sleeping bag or to protect yourself from mosquitoes for a short time, you can use a spray. If you don’t want to get dirty, need protection around the clock and have small children or pregnant women in your company, then it’s better to take a fumigator. Spirals lose because they have to be monitored. Well, if you have any questions, I’m ready to answer.
UPD. Thanks Meklon 1st generation pyrethroids
1st generation pyrethroids are esters of chrysanthemum acid. They are obtained by reacting chrysanthemum acid chloride with an alcohol component in the presence of tertiary amines or by transesterification of chrysanthemum acid ethyl ester in the presence of sodium. The most toxic compounds for insects are found among cyclopentenolone esters, substituted benzyl alcohols and N-hydroxymethylimides.
The following drugs are produced based on 1st generation pyrethroids: allethrin (2-allyl-3-methyl-2-cyclopenten-4-ol-1-onylchrysanthemate); furethrin (2-furfuryl-3-methyl-2-cyclopenten-4-ol-1-onyl chrysanthemate); cycletrin (2-cyclopentenyl-3-methyl-2-cyclopenten-4-ol-1-onyl chrysanthemum); bartrin (6-chloro-piperonyl chrysanthemum); dimethrin (2,4-dimethylbenzyl chrysanthemum); neopinamine [N-(3,4,5,6-tetrahydrophthalimido) methyl chrysanthemum].
These compounds have high insecticidal activity, but, like natural pyrethrins, they are easily oxidized in light and are therefore used mainly in enclosed spaces. They are also included in anti-mosquito smoldering coils, Moskitol and Fumitox-type plates, as well as aerosol cans designed to combat household insects. 2nd generation pyrethroids
2nd generation pyrethroids appeared in the 1960s and 70s. These compounds are more stable to photo-oxidation. These include esters of 3-(2,2-dihalogenvinyl)-2,2-dimethyl-cyclopropane-carboxylic acids - permethrin, cypermethrin, deltamethrin (decamethrin, "decis"), as well as fenvalerate - a pyrethroid that does not contain a cyclopropane ring. These compounds have a wide spectrum of action and are effective at very low application rates - usually from 16 to 300 g/ha, and for deltamethrin 5-20 g/ha. All 2nd generation pyrethroids significantly exceed pyrethrins in insecticidal properties: for example, optically active deltamethrin is 900 times more active than natural pyrethrin I. They are widely used for processing cotton, potatoes, and many other agricultural crops and gardens. In addition, they are used against household insects, for the treatment of fabrics and packaging materials. Their disadvantages include high toxicity to bees and fish, lack of systemic action and unsuitability for controlling soil-dwelling insects. 3rd generation pyrethroids
3rd generation pyrethroids include cyhalothrin, flucitrinate, fluvalinate, tralomethrin, cyfluthrin, fenpropathrin, bifethrin, cycloprothrin and also etofenprox, which, unlike other pyrethroids, does not contain an ester group. The most widespread of the 3rd generation pyrethroids is cyhalothrin, which is 2.5 times more active than deltamethrin. Some of these pyrethroids have high activity against ticks (acaricides) and are less toxic to bees, birds and fish. Effect on warm-blooded animals
Pyrethroids are considered less toxic than other groups of insecticides. This is due to the fact that they are either immediately eliminated or metabolized (due to the lability of the ester bond), after which they are excreted from the body, and esterases that hydrolyze pyrethroids are much more active in the liver of warm-blooded animals than in insects [1].
Crayons, pencils, bracelets
Insect repellent
This group of products, despite its relatively low prevalence, has one important advantage over creams and sprays. This advantage lies in the fact that applying the repellent is very simple and quick, without getting your hands or clothes dirty.
In terms of performance characteristics (action time and safety), such products are practically in no way inferior to aerosol-based repellents. On average, their effect lasts for 4-5 hours.
In this segment, the most common products are from Gardex, Moskitol and Chicco.
Bracelets are made from durable fabric (most often microfiber), which is impregnated with various essential oils. Essential oils of the following plants are used:
- rosemary
- verbena
- lemon
- lavender
The width of the bracelets ranges from 10 to 15 mm, and their length can vary. Usually bracelets are equipped with a clasp, so that the length is adjusted to the thickness of the hand. The duration of action of such funds is 1-2 weeks. When the bracelet is not being worn, it should be stored in a sealed plastic bag.
Anti-mosquito bracer
For small children, there are ankle bracelets.
Manufacturers of bracelets are Gardex, Bagslock, BagStop and others.
Stickers are a relatively new product. They are small pieces of plaster, just like bracelets, soaked in essential oils of plants with a strong repellent aroma.
Mosquito stickers
These products are ideal protection for children, since their use is permitted starting from the age of two months. In addition, they are hypoallergenic. These patches can be applied directly to the skin. However, nothing prevents you from sticking them on children's clothes, furniture or strollers.
The duration of operation of such products is about 4 hours.

The best remedies for bedbugs
Spirals and candles
Mosquito coils
Such products are used when traveling outdoors, since they cannot be used in confined spaces due to their operating principle. Even slow smoldering can quickly fill a room with combustion products and it will become impossible to stay in it. Outdoors there is no such problem.
This device is guaranteed to get rid of annoying insects within a radius of up to 3 meters. Its duration of action is about 1.5 hours.

How to use traps
We have already talked above about a similar method to get rid of mosquitoes. But now we are talking not about a homemade trap, but about an industrial trap. The most common is adhesive tape. It is attached to the ceiling in a room, veranda or gazebo. The surface of the tape is treated with a special bait and insects, having landed on it, cannot disentangle themselves and die immediately. It cannot be called effective: whether a mosquito lands on the tape or not is more a matter of chance rather than systematic. But there is also a plus - low cost.
Adhesive tape Raptor
Ultraviolet lamps are much more effective than adhesive tapes. They lure the insect with light, it falls on a grid through which a small voltage is applied, and dies there. It is logical that the lamps can be used in the dark. Depending on the model, the range of action will differ - in extreme cases, several units can be installed over a large area.
Products for indoor work
Indoor fumigators
The most common mosquito repellents today are indoor fumigators. Structurally, they are heaters that fill the air in the room with an insecticidal substance that kills mosquitoes. This substance is isolated from special plates or containers with liquid. In addition to mosquitoes, such fumigators cope well with numerous small flying midges, however, they are ineffective against house flies.
In a room, such a device is plugged into the network at night and works for several hours. Typically, one plate is enough to protect a room from mosquitoes for one night. A container with liquid insecticide is enough for one month.
The device is powered from a 220V power supply, however, there are models that can also be powered by batteries. Almost all well-known manufacturers of insecticides and repellents produce their own models of fumigators, plates and containers with liquid for them.

Why are mosquito bites dangerous?
Mosquito bites can not only ruin the warm season, but also cause serious damage to health. The insect saliva that is injected during a bite contains anticoagulants that inhibit blood clotting, in response to which the human body reacts with an allergic reaction and local irritation around the bitten area.
In some individuals, the immune response may be abnormal, but most people experience only local reactions such as burning, itching, swelling, and redness. If you scratch the bites, suppuration and dermatitis may occur.
But the health threat is not limited to reactions to mosquito bites. The main problem is the risk of contracting blood-borne diseases from a mosquito bite, carried by blood-sucking mosquitoes. These are parasitic, viral and bacterial infections, in the first place among them is malaria, which kills about 2 million people every year. That is why protection from mosquitoes, including the folk remedies described, is not so much a matter of comfort as of one’s own safety.
Specialized products for repelling and killing mosquitoes
Mosquito exterminators
This category is the most effective and modern means of combating mosquitoes. Its main representatives are the so-called mosquito exterminators, which can exterminate insects over fairly large areas using specialized technical means. They are conventionally divided into several groups:
Carbon dioxide traps
Carbon dioxide trap
Carbon dioxide traps The operating principle of such devices is based on a complete imitation of warm-blooded objects (human or animal), including heating the air. For this purpose, a propane cylinder is connected to the device, the gas from which, burning in a small amount, produces this imitation.
Insects attracted by the heat, flying close to the heat source, are picked up by a stream of air created by a special fan. This air flow draws mosquitoes into a trap located nearby. The trap is a bag from which mosquitoes cannot escape and die in it.
The cost of such devices is quite high and amounts to several hundred dollars, however, their efficiency is one of the highest. One such trap can protect an area of several hundred square meters from mosquitoes. This is quite enough to ensure a comfortable existence on an area equal to a medium-sized garden plot.
Electric traps
Electric trap
Electric traps A device capable of protecting slightly smaller areas (from 0.3 to 1 hundred square meters), however, it is much cheaper and works without a propane cylinder. The electric trap looks like a night light, the light of which attracts mosquitoes in the dark.
Mosquitoes, attracted by the light of such a trap, fall onto a metal mesh connected to a voltage source, where they die.
The device is absolutely safe for humans and can be used both in open spaces and indoors.
Ultrasound repellers
Ultrasound repellers
Ultrasonic repellers The operating principle of these devices is based on simulating the mosquito squeak that male mosquitoes emit at the moment of danger. Hearing this ultrasonic signal, mosquitoes begin to fly away from its source.
The effectiveness of such devices depends on the intensity and frequency of the ultrasound used. The most widely used repellers are from the following manufacturers:
- Tornado (frequency from up to 40 kHz)
- Typhoon (frequency 5 to 18 kHz)
- Veitek (30 – 40 kHz)
Depending on the power of the device, its range of action ranges from 2 m (battery-powered devices) to 15 m (with stationary power supply from 220 V).
The price of such devices is approximately half that of electric traps.
The best insect repellers
Compared to personal protective equipment, mosquito repellers are devices whose range of action extends over a large area. Their operating principle is based on the emission of ultrasound, smoke, smell or noise. All this forces the insects to leave the area where the repeller operates. Some of them are intended only for apartments, while others are intended for open air. The most common are spirals, plates, bracelets and ultrasonic devices. Below are the best of them.
5 Tornado OK.01
One of the best devices for repelling insects, “Tornado OK.01”, occupies the next position in the rating. It refers to ultrasonic devices, the operating principle of which is based on the reproduction of special noise that is not detected by human hearing. The device produces a sound characteristic of a male mosquito, which scares away the females (they are bloodsuckers). An important difference between this device is that it does not harm humans or pets. Another feature is the large range of action - as much as 50 sq.m.
The weight of Tornado OK.01 is only 250 g. The dimensions are also quite compact: 45 x 75 x 105 mm. It runs on batteries or via a network connection (including from the car’s cigarette lighter). Buyers leave conflicting reviews. Some indicate high efficiency, others indicate lack of results. Advantages: large range, compact dimensions and light weight, convenient use. Disadvantages: network adapter is not included, conflicting reviews, high price.
4 MOSQUITALL plates
MOSQUITALL fumigator plates are in great demand among other repellers. They are intended for indoor use. Their action is based on the release of special substances of the latest generation that repel insects and do not harm humans. The only condition is compliance with the operating rules. Complete elimination of mosquitoes occurs within 30 minutes after the start of use. This remedy for bites is considered very popular because of its cheapness and effectiveness.
The kit includes 10 plates, each of which is designed for use for 10 hours. An important feature is that they are odorless. The manufacturer recommends using the product only in ventilated areas. Most often, the fumigator is left on overnight, which ensures a restful sleep. Advantages: best price, long-lasting effect, economical consumption, excellent customer reviews.
3 Komarin – keychain Light MR-430

People who spend summer weekends in the country, in the forest or near bodies of water, rural residents and mothers walking with strollers have to suffer from annoying bloodsuckers. Midge and mosquito bites are very painful and cause an allergic reaction in many people. Within a few minutes after the insect sucks blood and flies away, swelling develops at the puncture site, burning and itching appears. A collision with a cloud of midges can even lead to an increase in temperature.
To avoid encounters with these dipterans, measures should be taken in advance. Of the folk remedies against mosquitoes and midges, crystalline vanillin is considered the most effective in terms of protection.
Ways to enter the house
Mosquitoes
First you need to find all the places and loopholes where mosquitoes come from and how they get into the apartment. These insects love high humidity, so you first need to inspect the basement of the house: if there is water or flooding, then even with the doors closed, mosquitoes will be able to enter apartments, especially on the lower floors. By opening the entrance doors each time, the residents themselves let them into the premises.
Another source of their entry into the apartment is windows, because on hot summer days they are always opened to allow fresh air to enter. And mosquitoes always smell a person and are able to “seep” even into the smallest crack. Optimal protection is provided by metal-plastic windows with special mosquito nets, which are made of stainless metal.
If the windows in the apartment are wooden, then you need to purchase a good mesh or gauze and nail them to the frames with special buttons, without leaving the slightest gap for mosquitoes. This method is the best insect repellent. Likewise, the ventilation openings should be closed, leaving them “not a single chance.”
