Atlant remedy for bedbugs, cockroaches, fleas, ants, mosquitoes, flies, 1 kg

  • Destruction of bedbugs

Over more than 13 years of work, we have managed to test 71 professional bedbug repellents in real home conditions, in a variety of apartments. Some of these products are no longer produced, some have appeared on the market literally in the last few years, and among them we have already found drugs that are the most effective in certain cases.

One shelf in the Disincity warehouse in Moscow

For example, when you need to poison bedbugs that have previously encountered some kind of insecticide, you need to use only drugs. When you need to destroy bedbugs in the same apartment as cockroaches, the means may be different. When traveling to a room where bedbugs have not yet been poisoned with anything, you can use other drugs.

At one time, there was a very inquisitive exterminator working in DezinCity, who was very fond of testing insecticides and their mixtures. He was simply a fan of such experiments, both in the laboratory and in real conditions, in clients’ apartments. Thanks to him, we have studied the properties of various drugs very well and know what products need to be taken for treatment in a particular apartment.

Plus, relatively recently, our colleagues from klop911 began testing drugs on bedbugs that are used to independently exterminate bedbugs by the population at home. These are not professional products, but among them there are very effective compounds that are not inferior in strength to the products used by specialists. The rating of such tested products was published on a separate page...

Exterminators do not use such preparations in their work only because they can only be purchased in retail packaging, which is unprofitable for professional use (if there is a constant need, it is more economical to buy the preparations in canisters). But it is precisely these household products that are most convenient and profitable to purchase specifically in order to remove bedbugs once in a separate apartment.

And one more very interesting point: in almost all the apartments in which we poison bedbugs, the residents themselves, before calling the service, tried to remove these parasites using various means. Over the course of 13 years, we have collected certain statistics and we know after which treatments there are practically no bedbugs left in the apartment, and to which bedbugs do not react at all.

Having all this data, we can accurately identify fairly effective drugs that really kill bedbugs. And alas, the same statistics show that even with the most effective and truly working means, you most likely will not get rid of bedbugs.

But first things first. First, here are a few of the products that exterminators most often encounter with the consequences of using them and which people most often search for on the Internet. And then - about why these remedies most likely will not help you.

Executioner

Probably the most popular drug now is Executioner. There are three options on the market:

  • German Executioner;
  • Pseudo-German in ampoules and bottles, with the name in German, but descriptions and instructions in Russian;
  • Russian Executioner.

We poisoned bedbugs in apartments in which we had previously tried to exterminate them with all these Executioners separately, and in general there is no difference in effectiveness between them. No matter what Executioner a person uses, exterminators still have to exterminate the bedbugs.

We tested the Russian-made Executioner on bedbugs. Of all the products available in retail sales, it is the fastest acting. It kills bedbugs when directly sprayed in 8.5 minutes, and when moving them over a surface on which the Executioner’s working solution has dried - in 2.5 hours. It's fast. Other non-professional means poison bedbugs more slowly.

According to our observations, there is no difference between the speed of action and effectiveness of the Russian and German Executioner. Despite the fact that the German preparation contains a mixture of two insecticides of different groups - fenthion (an organophosphorus compound) and cypermethrin (pyrethroid), while the Russian one contains only fenthion. Most likely, cypermethrin does not enhance or accelerate the action of fenthion, but only ensures that the product will poison bedbugs if they are resistant to fenthion itself. But the Russian Executioner is cheaper.

The Executioner has a significant drawback for many people: it has a strong unpleasant odor. This smell disappears after the product dries and the room is ventilated for 2-3 hours, but during the treatment itself the apartment smells strongly.

Plus, in Moscow there are already known cases of bed bugs being resistant to fenthion. There is documentary evidence of the detection of fenthion-resistant bedbugs in several old Moscow hospitals. We also have reason to believe that some DisinCity clients in Moscow and St. Petersburg, whose exterminators poisoned bedbugs after they were independently treated by the Executioner, did not remove the bedbugs in the apartment after the persecution by the Executioner precisely because of their resistance to this product.

In any case, the likelihood that the bedbugs specifically in your apartment are resistant to Executioner is very small - it does not exceed tenths of a percent. And in any case, it is lower than the probability that you will not remove bedbugs simply because you do not know the nuances of such removal.

Be that as it may, exterminators often treat apartments in which people have not been able to exterminate bed bugs with the Executioner on their own. This means that even the efficiency and speed of the Executioner does not guarantee the removal of bedbugs if the handler lacks experience and special knowledge.

Hector

Hector today can be considered an ideal means for self-extermination of bedbugs at home. It is effective, kills all bedbugs that come into contact with it, and is absolutely safe for people and pets.

Its only peculiarity is that it kills bedbugs within a few days, since in order for it to work, the insects need to run over it. But considering that it does not lose its properties for months if it is not washed off or wet, this feature cannot even be considered a disadvantage - you just need to be prepared that the bedbugs will not disappear in 2-3 hours, as with products with a pungent effect and a strong odor , and after 2-3 days.

Experiments show that Hector kills bedbugs within 2.5 hours from the moment the insects first come into contact with the product, even if during this time they only periodically come into contact with the powder.

The main advantages of Hector are the absence of odor and non-toxicity for humans, both for adults and children. It is also safe for pets. It's true: the active ingredient in it is silicon dioxide, which is used in medicine as an inert component of tablets. Even if it is swallowed, poisoning will not occur because silica is not toxic. There are no known cases of any allergies arising from its use.

However, in general it kills bedbugs quite effectively. Exterminators often work in apartments where people have previously tried to remove bedbugs with Hector, and find here a large number of dried and dead bedbugs.

Therefore, by the way, many exterminators themselves use Hector as an auxiliary product: after the main treatment with a professional preparation, they pour powder in those places where bedbugs can move, migrating from neighbors. Or they recommend that customers sprinkle the product there themselves - this is considered one of the ways to prevent the appearance of new bedbugs in the apartment.

But, as a rule, people are afraid to sprinkle Hector in sufficient quantities on their sleeping places, they do not renew the product, and new parasites are often acquired from their neighbors. And while these aliens die, they manage to bite people. In such cases, people complain that the drug does not work. Although in reality the issue is not the drug, but its incorrect use.

That is, Hector has the same problem as the Executioner: he kills bedbugs, but few use it correctly. Most buyers use it once or twice, are unable to remove the bedbugs, and end up calling the service anyway.

Advantages:

  • economical consumption;
  • simple method of application;
  • long residual effect;
  • noticeable results already in the first day;
  • does not cause addiction even with repeated use.

Principle of action: the active component has a contact, intestinal and repellent effect. Penetrating into the pest’s body, it disrupts calcium metabolism in synapses and the functioning of the nervous system. This causes excessive release of acetylcholine during the passage of a nerve impulse. Poisoning manifests itself in damage to motor centers and severe agitation.

Get Total and Get Express

Get is very advertised and popular today. The flagship product of this brand is Get Total, the auxiliary product is Get Express. We often work in apartments that people before us treated either with Get Total or with a mixture of Total and Express, and we can’t say anything outstanding about this product.

The main problem with Get is that its active ingredient is chlorpyrifos. On its basis there is a professional drug Agran, only Agran also contains cypermethrin. So, Agran poisons bedbugs in all services in a row, mainly due to its cheapness. It is especially loved by novice exterminators and those who are not involved in pest control professionally, but want to quickly make a pretty penny in the summer, during the season. They have this classic of the genre: buy a garden sprayer, a canister of Agran and advertise “professional removal of bedbugs the first time.”

Because of this, almost all bedbugs in Moscow, St. Petersburg, throughout the Moscow region and in many regional capitals have already encountered chlorpyrifos in Agran, and many have already managed to develop resistance to it. And that’s why Get Total based on it often doesn’t work.

It is interesting that the manufacturer is actively focusing attention, and buyers are relying on the microencapsulated structure of Gets. This is not entirely correct: the microencapsulated structure of Geta does not increase its effectiveness. Microencapsulation allows you to increase the safety of the product for people and pets, and Get Total is really good at this - it is low-hazard and practically odorless. But it poisons bedbugs in the same way as pure, unencapsulated chlorpyrifos. And whether it will work for you is a big question.

Theoretically, the mixture of Get Total with Get Express should kill bedbugs for sure, because the active substance of Get Express is lambda-cyhalothrin, a substance of a different class. But in fact, due to errors in processing, even with such a mixture, people often fail to remove bedbugs. Although we almost always remove bedbugs with professional preparations based on lambda-cyhalothrin the first time.

Cifox

It is not known why someone decided that Cifox was a good remedy for bedbugs. Perhaps the manufacturer is “to blame” for this, who indicated that Tsifox is intended to destroy all synanthropic insects, including bedbugs. But in reality, the drug contains only cypermethrin, and it is quite unreliable against bedbugs. It kills them, but relatively slowly and often misfires. It can be considered a reliable remedy against fleas and cockroaches, against linen lice and even ticks in the area, but for baiting bedbugs it is better to take something else.

Concentrate Forsythe

Price 800 rubles.

The pesticide is available in small 50 ml bottles and is a light yellow transparent liquid. The reliable product contains fenthion, which penetrates the chitinous membrane of the imago, causing paralysis and death. Poisons upon direct contact with insects and has a prolonged effect. To destroy parasites, it is necessary to dissolve Forsyth in water and treat the furniture and apartment with the resulting liquid.

Pros:

  • Low toxicity of the drug - the product belongs to safety class 4.
  • Ease of use.
  • No odor or fumes.

Minuses:

  • You can’t expect a lightning-fast effect, but the effect of Forsythe lasts up to 3-4 months. This makes it possible to destroy new generations of unwanted “neighbors.”
  • A thorough disinfection of the premises is necessary.
  • It is important to take precautions when handling, as inhalation may cause allergies.

Other do-it-yourself bed bug remedies

There is also a fairly old remedy called Cucaracha on sale. The active ingredients in it are cypermethrin and malathion, also known as karbofos. In fact, it is similar to the same Agran, especially since karbofos has also long been known to have stable populations of bed bugs.

By the way, Fufanon is produced using only karbofos - consider it the same karbofos, only in a different package. If bedbugs do not have resistance to it, it works well (as does Karbofos, in fact). If they are stable, then processing them does not give any result.

Almost the same can be said about most other chemicals. Whatever you take: Forsythe, Tetrix, Zonder, Cyclops, Raid, Raptor - they all contain highly effective insecticides, and any of them can kill bedbugs. All of them have both positive and negative reviews.

There are relatively few drugs that have almost no effect on bedbugs in real apartment conditions. For example, this is a very famous chalk Mashenka, these are repellers that are plugged into an outlet. But after self-treatment with means that quite effectively kill bedbugs, people still call and order professional treatment.

Aerosol “Clean House”

Price 500 rubles.

The secret of the popularity of the insecticide lies in its fast action and good efficiency. The pesticide contains cypermethrin and tetramethrin - they are harmless to humans, but destructive to annoying insects.

Penetrating through the chitinous shell, the active substances paralyze the adults, who die a few minutes after contact. Thanks to the economical consumption of the drug, a canister is enough for one large room.

Pros:

  • Wide penetration area. There is no need to scrupulously treat every centimeter of the apartment - the smallest particles lie in a dense layer on the surface.
  • Ease of use.
  • Preventive action.

Minuses:

  • Strong smell.
  • Preliminary preparation of the room for processing is required.
  • After treatment, you will have to carry out a thorough wet cleaning.

Why can’t people get rid of bedbugs even with good means?

Among professional exterminators, this unwritten truth is known: the most effective remedy for bedbugs is the one used by a specialist. This is not an aphorism or an advertisement. It is a fact. A person can use the same means to poison bedbugs once, then a second time, then a third time, and the parasites will not come out. The exterminator will use the same product to properly treat the room, and there will be no more bedbugs here.

In order to remove bedbugs with any, even the most effective, means, you need to be able to use this means. If you don’t know how to do this, even the most powerful drug will not guarantee that bedbugs will disappear from your apartment.

The drugs listed above are not fundamentally different from the professional products that exterminators use. Yes, professional insecticides have higher concentrations and may include other auxiliary components, but they work against bedbugs in almost the same way. They are simply more profitable to purchase in bulk and insect resistance to them is less likely.

Partly because of the desire to maintain this effectiveness of the products, we do not say what specific drugs we use. Because we know that there are no bed bugs that are resistant to these products. This is our professional secret. If tomorrow all services (including various hacks) begin to flood apartments with these products, then in six months these products will begin to have annoying misfires due to the resistance of insects, and we will have to look for new drugs.

But this is relevant for us, for pest control service specialists. We carry out 10-15 treatments every day, which is hundreds of treatments per month. And we need to have means with which we can confidently poison bedbugs everywhere.

In your case, the likelihood that bedbugs in your apartment will be resistant to a particular drug is negligible. Most likely, any product with a powerful insecticide can kill your bedbugs. If you take a product based on two insecticides, it will definitely kill your bedbugs. Therefore, you don’t need to rack your brains, search for and order some expensive professional products. You just need to correctly apply what is intended for self-processing in the apartment.

But with this - with the correct use of the product - most people have problems. Actually, all cases when a person buys Cyclops, or Karbofos, or Executioner, poisons bedbugs with them, the bedbugs seem to disappear, but then appear again - these are precisely those situations when the product is used incorrectly. And in this case, it doesn’t matter what kind of product it is - household or professional, strong or weak, with or without a smell. If you use it incorrectly, it will not remove bedbugs.

Actually, this is what we see in our calls. People tell us that they poisoned bedbugs with one drug or another, or they had services before us that poisoned bedbugs with a certain drug. And almost always these remedies are quite effective. We know them, we tested them, they can remove bedbugs. And if you can’t do this, then it’s not a matter of means. The point is how to use this tool.

That is why the drug used by a professional exterminator will be more effective than even the most powerful remedy that a person uses to kill bedbugs for the first time in his life. This is why people take good products, but cannot get rid of bedbugs with them, and sooner or later they still call us.

Our practice shows that compliance with processing rules is a more important factor than a powerful tool. An experienced exterminator will remove bedbugs even with a spray can – Raid or Raptor. Of course, he will spend more time on this than when working with a cold fog generator and with a professional preparation. He may even have to carry out two treatments with such products in a can. But after these two treatments, there will be no bedbugs left in the room.

If an inexperienced person takes even the most powerful professional drug, he will most likely not be able to remove bedbugs with this drug.

Therefore, we can conclude: to remove bedbugs, a product based on any effective insecticide, or even better, two insecticides of different classes, is sufficient. It doesn’t matter what this product is called - if processed correctly, it can kill bedbugs.

Mode of application

To prepare a working suspension, mix the product with water at room temperature. Distribute using spray equipment in places where insects are detected, localized and moved at the rate of 100 ml/1 m2 for absorbent surfaces, 50 ml/1 m2 for non-absorbent surfaces. After a few hours, ventilate the room and carry out wet cleaning. Repeated treatments are recommended for entomological reasons.

Amount of Atlant product required for preparing working emulsions:

Species of arthropod Product (g) per 1 liter of water
Cockroaches, fly larvae 5,0
Adult flies, ants, fleas, rat mites 25,0
Mosquitoes, bedbugs 0,05

How an exterminator chooses a bedbug killer

When we go to treatment on call, we take several products with us, one of which or a complex of which is most likely to destroy all the bedbugs in the room.

Of course, in order to choose a remedy, we need to roughly imagine the situation in the apartment: how many bedbugs are there, how long have they been living there, what have they been poisoned with, what substances can they already be resistant to, are there cockroaches along with the bedbugs? The operator tries to obtain all this information from the customer in advance by phone, but it is not always possible to do this. Sometimes people don’t say something, sometimes they hide the fact that they treated the room with something or called another service. Therefore, we always make allowances for this and take the strongest means with a reserve of “power” when traveling. Moreover, for each trip we bring several different means so that we can choose the most suitable one on the spot.

As a rule, we prefer to work with imported products. They are more expensive, they usually use relatively new insecticides that bedbugs have not yet encountered and to which they do not have resistance. Due to the fact that these products are quite expensive, they are rarely used by other services, and due to the fact that they are sold in large packages, people do not use them at all for self-processing. This is a definite, fairly reliable guarantee that specifically here, in Moscow and the Moscow region, in St. Petersburg, bedbugs have not encountered these products. And when we use these drugs, we immediately destroy bedbugs.

Plus, we must admit that imported drugs are purer, they contain fewer impurities, that is, they are safer. They stink less, dissipate faster, and are less likely to cause any unwanted reactions in people.

At the same time, the price of these imported products is quite high and significantly increases the cost of processing. Therefore, either over the phone when ordering, or already in the apartment, we are forced to offer a person a choice: either treatment with a cheaper Russian drug, or expensive treatment with an imported product.

Sometimes we have friction with clients about this. The first problem is due to the fact that people, when calling an exterminator, do not want to rack their brains and decide on the choice of product. They pay money so that the exterminator makes this choice and so that there are no bedbugs left in their house. But when a person finds out that the difference in price when processed with different means can be 1500-2000 rubles, he understands that this question is appropriate.

Another complaint is related to the fact that, on the one hand, we say that bedbugs can be removed by any means, and on the other hand, we begin to offer cheaper or more expensive options. Some people perceive this as some kind of “divorce”. They say that you can remove it with anything, but then they start to increase the price by offering an imported product.

In fact, an exterminator will actually remove bedbugs using any means. The only question is that in one situation it may really not matter what means of poisoning is used. But there are times when it is important for a person that there is no smell in the room after treatment. Or the infestation of the apartment is so strong that only a powerful imported product will remove bedbugs the first time, but they will have to be poisoned twice with a domestic product. Plus, the possibility of a misfire due to resistance to a domestic, frequently used product has not been canceled: if we use an imported drug, we almost certainly destroy all the bedbugs at once. If we use a domestic product, it may happen that it does not catch bedbugs (although this is a very rare case), and the room will need to be treated again. Such repeated processing means additional hassle, nerves, labor and time. And we understand that for many people it is easier to immediately order an imported drug in order to avoid these hassles.

And one more important point: very often it happens that on the spot, already in the apartment, we discover a situation that is completely different from what the client described to us over the phone. Moreover, often this does not even involve the client’s malicious intent. It happens that a person does not see bedbugs, he thinks that there are not many of them, but we come, dismantle his sofa and find thousands of bedbugs, huge nests. It happens that a person orders treatment over the phone and does not know what means were used to poison bedbugs in the room before. And on the spot, one of the residents (mother, grandmother, apartment owner) tells the exterminator the names of the products that were used here previously. There are other situations, but the essence of them is common: in the office, according to the manager who received the call, the exterminator is preparing for one situation, but instead it turns out that the circumstances are somewhat different. And if initially we were preparing for treatment with an inexpensive domestic product, then on the spot it turns out that we need to work with a more expensive imported drug. Accordingly, it happens that the exterminator is forced to increase the price on site.

Previously, we considered this unacceptable, because such an increase is a favorite trick of scammers. They advertise pest control for 1,200 rubles, but in the apartment they grab their heads, ooh and ah, and tell the client that everything is more complicated than they thought, and poisoning will now have to cost 8,000.

We always try to avoid this, but in fact, sometimes such situations are inevitable even with crystal honest exterminators, without any fraud.

To completely eliminate the possibility of any mark-ups, all of our exterminators always have a certified price list with them and any price increase is always carried out in accordance with the prices established by the company.

You just have to understand that not always, but sometimes such a price change after a professional inspection of the apartment may be justified and necessary.

In particular, sometimes in an apartment the exterminator decides to use imported drugs instead of Russian ones, or use a complex of products, or after the main treatment, use Blockade-Antiklop for longer protection. All this increases the efficiency of treatment and the likelihood of complete extermination of bedbugs the first time. But this also leads to a reasonable increase in price.

How safe are professional and household bedbug repellents?

And a little about safety. All acute drugs are toxic to one degree or another to humans and domestic animals. All of them require strict safety measures when working with them. This also applies to the professional drugs we use. The same is true for products that are sold in stores and with which people carry out treatments with their own hands.

Only a small part of drugs is almost completely safe for people. This is, for example, the already mentioned Hector.

Shot from disinfestation: the master pours Hector along the baseboards for prevention

If the rules for using various agents are violated, poisoning may develop and an allergy may appear. If you strictly follow the instructions for use, or when calling an exterminator, follow his instructions, the risks of poisoning and any undesirable consequences will be minimal.

On a note

In our practice, we have encountered cases of poisoning, fainting, and allergies in people who grossly violated the rules for using anti-bedbug products. People often manage to use even the safest drugs in such a way that they then need to see a doctor. And the doctor is still perplexed: how could one be poisoned with such a drug. But our people can do anything...

This, by the way, is another danger of self-baiting bedbugs. When we poison parasites, we are responsible for the safety of people and animals in the premises. We make sure that safety precautions are followed so that nothing happens to anyone. If suddenly this is not possible, we are ready to stop processing, but to prevent any danger to the customer. If a person poisons an apartment himself, he simply, out of ignorance, can harm himself.

Therefore, the same rule applies here as with efficiency: the safest remedy for bedbugs is the one that an experienced exterminator uses to poison them.
